Victor Meets Jack by kuabci Victor Meets Jack by kuabci
Pen
2005

I really liked Corpse Bride when it was released, and I have always been a fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas, so voila! A quick lil' crossover seemed shortly in order. I know their proportions relative to each other are probably completely off, but I had to fit them both on the page next to each other. I can only imagine the tales that Jack is telling Victor, based on the timorous Van Dort's expression.

Thanks!  I didn't realize until I drew this just how very similar these two are in design (though of course Jack is much more dead).

Just wanted to say that this is a really cool drawing. You're very good at drawing these characters. I love the expression on Victor's face. XD

Thank you! They are sometimes challenging because they're not generally drawings in the films, but they are fun to draw anyway. Poor, timid Victor. :)

this is great! Victor looks a little scared here. i bet Jack's telling him about the many times he scared the wits out of people in Halloween. :D

I agreed. For me Jack is a character that wanted to do something with his life and he really wants to do it. And that's one fantastic thing I think he did there.

It's just one of those things! They get easier. I usually just more or less imply them, if you know what I mean.

Like scales or feathers or fur. In theory they get easier with practice... I'd like to test this out, but most of the time by the time I'm done with one picture I'm ready to check myself into an asylum, so I have to take a nice long break...

Yes, it's best to take a little break after doing a really intensive project, or at least do something a little less stressful to unwind.

That they are! Stop-motion animation makes me so exhausted sometimes, it's such a time-consuming and painstaking art form.

That is true, one that requires much preparation to make, and takes forever to film. But the end results are so worth it! :)

yeah, i have seen some of his live action, and really I only liked sweeney todd. It seems that stop action animation is more in his style, for me him with live action movies just doesn't work very well.

I have liked lots of his live-actin movies (like Big Fish and especially his masterpiece Edward Scissorhands, among some others), but it seems like he really does speak well through animation.

lawl, I actually think of Victor as a (human) brother/cousin of Jack...

Yeah, that thought has crossed my mind too, like Jack is Victor after he dies or something, ha. They do have a lot of similarities, don't they? They're probably sort of autobiographical really, Tim Burton's alter-egos.
