Like I did with my Year of Hardy character sketches, I am now working my way through the Jane Austen novels in my Summer of Austen reading. I started with her first work, Sense and Sensibility, published 1811 (review here). They are somewhat cheerier than the Thomas Hardy canon, and they are a delight to read.
